CAMPUS BEAUTIFICATION
PTO designates a portion of the yearly budget towards keeping Alexander Wilson Elementary's 100 year old campus safe, clean and updated. If you would like to help with campus beautification and maintenance outside of our Campus Cleanup Days, please contact us. Our campus is maintained by the time, love, and generosity of our community and the school benefits by the combined efforts of many.
CAMPUS BEAUTIFICATION DAYS
A joint effort with local Cub Scout Packs, students, families, teachers and staff gather for Campus Clean Up Day each Fall and Spring. Everyone is welcome. As a community we knock out small and large projects, tasks such as:
- rake leaves
- plant flowers
- trim trees and bushes
- pull weeds
- clean up trash
- pressure wash brick signs, rails, posts, awning, etc
- maintain picnic tables
- deliver and spread mulch
- remove unwanted/ problematic shrubs and trees
- transport yard waste
PICNIC SPOT: PTO is excited to show off our 100 Year Gift, six high quality 6-foot picnic tables made of recycled plastic and requiring little maintenance. These picnic tables will be used in the picnic spot between the school and cafeteria. The original picnic tables in this area, an Eagle Scout project, will continue to be maintained and moved to a new location to create an additional picnic spot.
PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT: A multiyear effort, the 2023 playground installation is a product of a partnership with Impact Alamance and generous contributions from our community. $50,000 in funds were provided by Impact Alamance and $35,000 from PTO fundraisers and donations. The combination of these funds cover the both the new playground, situated by the school's nature trail, and maintenance on the K-2 playground.
